“This show is my small but most beautiful good-bye show to an entire continent. I have already said good-bye to Matisse in Nice a few weeks ago where I did my 7AM morning jogging alongside the Quai des Etats Unis in the wonderful Baie des Anges.
I am no good lonely traveller so I called my friend Josef Zekoff from Vienna, the great greek-type drawing genius and publisher to visit me there.
We had a good time and realized that Matisse was a wonderful, but human being, too. Plus, we went to a Massage de Son therapy nearby our hotel (“Le Negresco”) and it was more than intense.

Before, I had painted a few versions of portraits showing Paula Modersohn-Becker who is one of my favorite classics. Again before, I had met Paula Kamps in Berlin on April 20, 2017. She came to a simple greek dinner right after a panel discussion event I had to take part in at Galerie Max Hetzler´s additional Kurfürstendamm space.

I was reading Hölderlin´s “In lieblicher Bläue” to the audience right before the discussion had to take place.
So, Paula invited me a full year later to a great show she herself set up in her Kreuzberg studio and we didn´t see each other at all during that year. Her works will now play an important role inside this over-pronounced “solo-show” of mine that, thank you Peter, isn´t a solo show.

Myself has contributed to this exhibition a set of artworks that I found and painted during the last weeks in my Rangsdorf studio, a studio I will leave behind for a while in exchange for a garage surrounded by palm trees and birds singing almost 10.000 kilometres
away.”
